Carbohydrates attenuate impairments in cognitive function after exercise in the heat
This randomized crossover study found that adding carbohydrates to a water and electrolyte beverage led to increased blood glucose levels during a 2-hour exercise protocol in a hot environment. The beverage also reduced declines in cognitive function after exercise by about 65%.
